  • + Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone – Small Changes for Big Gains

    April 02 2019

Injecting a little creativity into your applications offering and spicing things up with new techniques can surely do you no harm in aiding customer satisfaction and retention. Here, Bobby Fosson, Channel Sales Manager at SAi looks at how having the right software can help achieve this efficiently and painlessly, while also improving the bottom line.

When the going is good and your sign shop or large format business is doing just fine, it’s all too tempting to stick to your mainstay service or application offering. Why change what’s not broken, right?

Fair enough, but isn’t it sometimes healthy to mix things up a little and offer customers something a bit different? This needn’t involve changing your core business offering, but simply adding services that are attractive to the client and enable you charge a premium.

For me, customers of signs shops and large format businesses broadly fall into three different types. First, there’s the high-end client that may already have a marketing department, a certain style or a set of branding standards that they need to follow. Then there’s the more local businesses – those customers that are always looking for some sort of advantage to differentiate themselves from the competition. Thirdly, there are those customers wanting something more unique that nobody else can provide or nobody else has. These are the ones who are willing to spend more money to ensure they stand out.

In each case, regardless of the type of customer, the goal with any large format application is to capture and hold the attention of their respective audience. For POP/POS applications, that means producing the type of signs and displays that will grab their target markets’ gaze for those few vital seconds, draw them in and then encourage an action/purchase. If you have the right equipment, achieving this can often be a lot easier, quicker and less expensive than you – or your customers - might realise.

    Photo finish

For example, the fairly straightforward addition of a clear UV coating to a standard retail POP/POS display or poster enables a matt or high gloss finish. Aside from delivering a more premium-level and up-market appearance, it instantly and quite literally, becomes more eye-catching once the light hits it. Importantly, the likelihood of customers noticing it increases several-fold.
For customers who have UV printers, there are other reasons to use varnish or clear ink. As some materials don’t accept UV inks well, printing the image first with a matt finish varnish (which has no pigment in that material or ink), provides a better base layer on which to then print the full colour graphic. It also increases the breadth of substrates you can print onto. As necessary, you can then go back over it again with a clear varnish.

    Getting a feel for it

Another useful added-value technique is the use of UV clear ink for the creation of textures in the decorative or packaging markets, as well as promotional products like keychains, pens and USB sticks. For items such as a foam core or rigid substrate for example, rather than simply printing a flat logo, copy or graphic onto the substrate, with the right software and equipment, you can even produce a textured pattern, thereby giving a true tactile feel to the product.

Another customer I know prints onto the surface of Mahjong tiles, before adding texture over the ink for a different feel. Such print techniques also continue to prove popular for prototyping. Experimenting with textures in very short-runs on behalf of customers, enables cost-effective product testing and evaluation of look and feel before going to full production.

Better yet as you’re already putting together an estimate or quote for approval of the layout and production of the job, you can easily add a simple check box to say, ‘add spot UV’ or ‘add texture'. Do this and have some pre-printed samples to hand to demonstrate the effect, and you’re halfway there to being able to up the value – and the price – of the job.

    Ain’t no mountain high enough

Of course, while it’s easy to see the benefits of leaving your comfort zone and differentiating your offering, there are factors that, for some, may present a barrier to doing this right away. That said, these are by no means obstacles that can’t be overcome.

Indeed, unless you’re already equipped, this could require capital investment ranging from as little as $15K to several times that. In terms of applicable devices, there are many on the market from leading players, among them Mimaki’s UJF Series, Mutoh’s ValueJet 426UF, as well as several different machines from Roland. Alternatively, if investment isn’t possible, there’s always the option to outsource projects to fellow sign shops or print providers.

In other cases, it might simply be a question of education that dissuades some companies from exploring these techniques. Ensuring operators are properly trained to set up files correctly can be daunting if they are unfamiliar, or they’ve been told to do it out of Adobe Illustrator.

Indeed, while they might provide users with the necessary workflow to undertake these applications, certain printer manufacturers push the use of Adobe Illustrator to create different types of patterns, as well as overflood fills and suchlike. Meanwhile, those users might be unaware that their existing software, in this case our own SAi Flexi software, can to do the same thing.

In fact, Flexi also offers another extremely time- and cost-efficient capability when it comes to printing promotional items like pens or USB drives. As you may be aware, with many small format (up to 30-40 inches wide) desktop UV printers, it’s not just a case of putting such items down on the table and printing directly to them. First, you need to create a jig or fixture to drop these pieces into an item that has been pre-cut.

The good news is that, Flexi allows you to easily design the fixture around the product. You can then export the EPS file and send it to your router, laser engraver, or vinyl cutter to cut the jig or template to put on the table of the printer. Better yet, you now know exactly where to place these items and – in some cases – hold them in place for perfect registration.

Clearly, using just one software for the design of the jig and artwork, to the addition of UV or textures, as well as the direct output to the device, is more beneficial. It saves a lot of time, reduces the file size and decreases costs - along with overcoming the issue around familiarity with multiple-packages. Indeed, the need to handle various software packages and ensure different designers at each stage are fully conversant with each, is a major bugbear for sign shops.

    Stand out in 2019

To that end, I would encourage you to take a look at the various software packages available on the market. Consider how they might help you to explore some of the techniques I’ve mentioned, and of course, others not discussed.

By fully exploiting their potential and pushing the envelope with new print substrates, techniques and applications that currently fall outside your area of focus, you’re better placed to both secure repeat business from existing customers and attract new ones.

Condé Systems adds shrink wrap film sleeves to its DyeTrans® family of production accessories. Introduced to remedy the challenges of imaging uniquely shaped products, the 6.875″x9.8125″ sleeves give digital decorators the ability to sublimate an exciting variety of tapered drinkware and handleless wine tumblers using a convection oven.

To use, simply insert a blank sublimatable product with attached transfer into a film sleeve, shrink the film sleeve with a heat gun to conform to the product’s shape, and then place it into a convection oven for that product’s appropriate temperature and time settings.

“While most drinkware can be produced in a traditional mug press, tapered mug press, or an oven using a wrap, many of our new drinkware products should be decorated in a convection oven using a shrink wrap bag. This new way of imaging drinkware produces full, all-around images that will impress you and your customers!” says David Gross, President of Condé Systems.

    March 26 2019

It’s amazing to think that something as simple as ‘colour,’ is actually quite a complex topic. And though most of us take it for granted, the concept of colour and being able to accurately reproduce it is a multifaceted discipline that requires expert knowledge. So it was great to hear all about the topic from the experts at Epson at their recent ‘Concepts in Colour’ roadshow in Melbourne.

The three-day event featured a number of presentations about colour, colour management, the print process, and the latest advances in workflow technology as it relates to colour. Attendees where then able to ask questions and work through issues they were dealing with.

The ‘Concepts in Colour’ tour is about helping our customers and other print professionals understand colour, how it is perceived, how to match colours and see what can be done and, harness its power for better results,” said and Romano Bacci, Business Manager, Professional Print Solutions, Epson Australia.

“Our industry is all about colour and getting it right for the client, especially in this day and age where people are becoming very demanding about how colour is translated, corporate colours and branding and the emotional impact colour has with the intended audience.

“We are trying to share our expertise about colour, so our clients can make the most of their print systems, software and inks to improve their colour workflows in their business. By using them, and understanding how important it is, they can improve results they achieve for their clients, whilst becoming more efficient in matching and achieving accurate colour consistency and reducing waste.

Whilst the presentations where packed with interesting facts and insights, the follow up Q&A sessions helped to solve a number of real world issues the attendees where dealing with.

To support the presentation, Epson also displayed a number of their market leading printers for the fine print, CAD, signage, display and garment printing industries.

“We had some good interaction with customers,” said Roman. “It was a good opportunity to show industry professionals the power of colour, and how they can make the most of it from our RIP software and S-Series and F-Series printers.”

    March 25 2019

Trotec Laser, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has further expanded its line of laserable acrylics to include TroGlass Glitter – a high-quality cast acrylic material with glitter distributed evenly throughout each sheet.

Available in a variety of colours and thicknesses, TroGlass Glitter products are designed to be color stable and will not bleach or fade when laser processed. The new product provides exciting opportunities for creative minds and designers to explore many different and interesting new visual effects, and can be used for a variety of applications including jewellery, signage, decorative items and point-of-purchase displays, to name a few.

Like all TroGlass products, TroGlass Glitter comes standard with a plastic laserable mask. This unique feature protects the acrylic from scratching, which reduces scrap and rework, and improves processing results. TroGlass products produce a smooth, polished edge in one process step, with little or no post-processing. Depending on the laser settings, laser engraving the material surface results in a prominent or subtle engraved image.
Warren Knipple, President of Trotec Laser, Inc., says that the new products were created with the company’s driving mission in mind: To make customers more profitable.

“Our growing materials product line allows us to provide our customers with new opportunities to broaden product offerings, meet a wider range of application needs, and get the most out of a laser investment,” Knipple says. “When we can empower our customers to grow business and increase profits, everyone wins.”

    March 20 2019

Primera Technology, Inc., a global manufacturer of specialty printers, has announced its new LX2000 colour label printer. LX2000 is Primera’s fastest-ever desktop colour printer, producing labels at speeds of up to 6” per second – about 25% faster than Primera’s best-selling LX900 colour label printer (for comparable print quality).

Large, separate ink cartridges for cyan, magenta, yellow and black keep the cost per label low. Other features include pigment-based ink for stronger resistance to UV light, chemicals and water, built in “pizza-wheel” cutter, viewing window to see label stock levels and wired Ethernet or USB 2.0 and wireless connection options.

“LX2000 represents an entirely new product class in desktop label printing,” says Mark Strobel, Primera’s VP of sales and marketing. “With large ink tanks, we can offer an extremely competitive cost per label. Our print speeds rival printers that cost up to three times more. We have pigment ink that has far more resistance to water, chemicals and UV light. Print quality is superb. Add to that our wired Ethernet or USB 2.0 or wireless connection options, along with 8” print width and you’ve got everything most companies would ever need. With LX2000, there are only benefits and no compromises.”

Typical applications include product labels for coffee, wine, water, bakery, confectionary, meat, cheese and hundreds of other specialty and gourmet foods. LX2000 is also ideal for private labelling, test marketing, pre-press proofing and retail labelling.

With its pigment ink and Primera’s Tuffcoat Extreme PolyJet material, LX2000 has already passed Section 3, BS5609 testing. The testing included removal of print by adhesive tape, abrasion resistance and permanence of print evaluations under extreme conditions, including exposure to UV light and repeated salt spray and immersion. The material and printed images from LX2000 passed in all three categories.

Printer drivers are included for Windows Vista/7/8, along with Bartender Ultralite Software (for Windows) to format label designs, add bar codes, QR codes, etc. Most other popular graphic design programs for Windows can be used to design and print labels. A Mac driver is currently under development.

Qualified substrates include many different inkjet label materials, including Primera’s exclusive Tuffcoat Extreme white and clear polyester and white BOPP, as well as the new Tuffcoat Extreme PolyJet. Paper labels are also available in high-gloss, semi-gloss and matte finishes.

    March 19 2019

There was no hiding the smiles when Nicole and Carey Burt of Zoom Signs went to collect their brand new V8 Race Red 2018 Ford Mustang. The husband and wife team were the very happy winners of the 3M ‘Win a Ford Mustang’ promotion.

The competition was open to anyone who purchased a 3M product from any Australian retailer or regular wholesaler/distributor. Having purchased a number of 3M products from Amari Visual Solutions, Nicole was encouraged by Carey to enter.

“We changed over to 3M products after we were having problems with consistency and reliability of other branded products,’ said Nicole. “We are a small business but we are a busy workshop and don't have time to be repeating jobs when inferior products fail. So, we switched to AVS about a year ago and haven’t looked back. We use the best products first time round, our customers appreciate the quality of our work and we are confident in sending 3M products out.”

Nicole entered a total of four times, but like most competitions gave it little thought after that. That was until she got an email in December last year saying that she was one of the prize winners.

“We thought we had won tickets to the V8 supercar which there were 20 passes given as runners up prizes. We were very excited about that and were busy planning which race we would go to. We honestly didn't even give the major prize a second thought.”

That would all change with a phone call.

“We received a phone call about a month ago telling me that we had actually won the Mustang. I was in total disbelief and thought it was a cruel trick! Apparently all the blood rushed from my face and I just kept saying thanks you! After the call we all danced around the office yelling and cheering. Needless to say not much work happened for the rest of the day.”

(Chris Murphy Warwick Automotive, Carey and Nicole Burt Zooms Signs, Mitch Coleman Amari Visual Solutions, Debbie Amiradaki 3M Corporate Marketing, Mark Langdale 3M Automotive)

Debbie Amiradaki, 3M Marketing Manager for Australia and New Zealand said, “We are very happy for Nicole and Carey of Zoom Signs. The ‘Win a Mustang Competition’ was a way for 3M “to mark our association with Supercars and to celebrate the 2019 launch of Mustangs into the sport.”

“It’s always fun to run promotions such as this and great to see positive engagement with our customers. We would like to congratulate all the winners and thank them for their continued support”.

“We are so grateful to 3M for the win,” said Nicole. “We are just a normal hard working family that didn't ever expect to be driving a car like this.”

    March 19 2019

Summa nv, a leading supplier of high-end cutting plotters and finishing systems, introduces the L1810 laser cutter, bringing advanced laser cutting technology to benefit the sportswear, apparel, swimwear, dye sublimation garments and technical textile markets.

The new L1810, with its 1.8 m wide flatbed, is the first laser cutter introduced by Summa since the acquisition of CadCam Technology (CCT). This machine is part of the Summa L Series and equipped with proven laser technology, yet with enhanced features.

Wim Maes, Executive Director at Summa explains: “With our eyes focused on the textile market, this launch is an important step for Summa. A number of reasons convinced us that laser cutting is the best way to cut sportswear & apparel and we are ready to show the advantages, such as increased productivity, ease of use, cut accuracy and automated features, to the market. The development of this first Summa branded L1810 laser cutter is a powerful product to start with.”

The L1810 laser system is built to seamlessly meet the requirements for cutting textiles for sportswear.

     - Processing sportswear involves sensitive and easily distorted textiles, the laser system uses contactless cutting, enabling users to process materials with       high precision.

     - Cutting quality that exceeds your expectations, thanks to the perfectly sealed edges.

     - Enhanced productivity with the 1.8 m conveyor system for continuous production of roll materials.

     - Any deformations are automatically recognised by the intelligent camera system and immediately compensated in the cutting vector.

    - Ease of use & Automation thanks to the advanced optional Vision system, which quickly scans the material and automatically creates vectors for cutting, without the need of a cutting file.

    - Material optimisation reduces waste with the Vision technology because the laser system does not need markers, the cutting designs can be placed much closer to each other, ensuring maximum use of the material.

    - Environment & Safety is a priority. Fumes are removed by the internal extraction system and cutting by laser produces no dust fibres ensuring a clean work environment. The L1810 cutting area is enclosed to meet the Class 1 standard, ensuring the laser cutting source is covered during operation and machine pauses if the cover is open.

The L1810 laser cutter is especially suitable to cut textiles, such as sportswear, dye sublimation garments but also all sorts of raw materials used in the composite industry. All of these substrates are part of the wide variety of materials, which can be cut on Summa’s advanced L1810 laser cutting system.

Moreover, by using the optional Vision system, the L1810 Vision is utmost suitable to be used in high-production environments, demanding fast processing of printed textiles in order to achieve more throughput in less time. Always with the same high-end finishing quality, Summa stands for.

Wim Maes points out, “With the dedication and expertise on board, Summa continues to excel as a supplier of high-performance cutting and finishing solutions, broadening its portfolio in a growing number of markets. The introduction of the L1810 laser cutter is an ideal stepping stone to also build a reputation of a trusted partner in the textile industry. The broad spectrum of Summa’s cutting solutions, offering exceptional cut quality, versatility and productivity will perfectly serve the textile industry, similar as it has been serving the sign & digital market to date.”

    March 13 2019

Kwik Kopy was recently chosen as the official print partner for The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards in recognition and celebration of Australia’s highest achievements in film and television. This amazing work highlights how Garry Folcarelli of Kwik Kopy Alexandria produced print material that represented the prestige of the awards.

    Objectives:

One of most important requirements was to provide a wide range of quality printing materials that could be given out at lead-up events such as the AACTA Industry Luncheon as well as the AACTA Awards ceremony and official after party. Printed collateral included:

    • - Invitations
    • - Posters
    • - Event programs
    • - Year in review booklets
    • - Winners’ cards
    • - Sealed envelopes
    • - Social media cards

    Strategy and Execution:

The first step Kwik Kopy took was to meet with AACTA and get a clear understanding of their business, needs and expectations. Folcarelli recommended using print stock that suited the glamour of the event that also reflected the bright camera stage lights of the event.

    Solutions:

The sheer number of people handling the materials, coupled with lighting and cameras flashes meant it was crucial to get the right paper stock and finish right. Kwik Kopy took the following approach:

    • - Use coated stock for the covers of the Judge’s Handbook and uncoated stock for the inside pages. This gave the right look and professional, high-quality feel for the occasion.
    • - For the winner’s cards a matt finish was used to stop reflect the lights using gloss celloglaze finishes would mean far too much reflection.
    • - Kwik Kopy Alexandria chose special inks like a gold metallic finish and silver metallic toner. The gold metallic finish helped makes the logo and lettering ‘pop’ on print pieces such as the invitations and programs.
    • - For the winner’s card Kwik Kopy created a folded die-cut outer piece. The cut-outs allowed AACTA to insert the winner’s details and seal the card. This meant AACTA could maintain complete secrecy and suspense until the winner announcements on the night!

    Results:

AFI | AACTA Partnerships Manager, Chloe Krushka says that customer service is key when finding a reliable print partner. That’s exactly what they found in Kwik Kopy.

“A quick turnaround and flexibility to work with changes is very important to us. This includes working together to create and follow timelines that work for both parties as well as advice on what materials will work best for the job in question. We have greatly enjoyed working with Kwik Kopy. Garry has been fantastic. He has been very responsive and helpful when it has come to our printing needs.”

Label Image has invested in a Durst Tau 330 E UV inkjet press to support its ongoing commitment to operational growth and high quality customer service. Formed in 1986, the Australian company was acquired by Nick and Emma Godwin in 2015. Since then they have made a number of improvements and investments focused on driving growth and maintaining a high level of service and support for their expanding customer base.

Today, Label Image is recognised for its innovative sales team, e-commerce shop front and digital printing systems. It challenges the market with new ideas and solutions developed from its understanding of customer needs. It executes environmentally astute print-on-demand solutions that reduce inventory and deliver shorter turnaround times.

The latest in digital inkjet technology was chosen to complement Label Image’s conventional label printing systems. Explains Nick: "We first assessed the basics of adaptability, reliability, quality and the opportunities offered to enhance their client offerings. The Durst Tau 330 E ticked all those boxes and more. Its productivity, print quality and colour consistency were stand out capabilities.

“During the extensive decision-making process the growth potential for Label Image was crucial. We considered the option of additional services and offerings but also wanted a return on investment (ROI) model that made sense and allowed us to scale up to meet future demand. We also recognised that having a lower capital cost press doesn’t always equate to a lower total cost of print.”

Emma continues: “The Durst Tau is remarkable at reducing media waste. We can print a press proof and rewind the media to the next label start point and immediately begin printing with no waste. This means the first label is a billable label, reducing waste and costs, something I have not seen on any other press to date. Nor have I seen this level of image quality on any other inkjet press.”

ROI was not the only consideration when investing in the Durst Tau 330 E. Important, too, was the broad range of media it could handle without the mess, cost or sourcing of primers or post coatings on materials. They range from direct thermal, cosmetic, food and beverage to industrial. In fact, it covers most commercial labels. Other convincers were the stunning white ink opacity achieved in the single pass print process reducing production time and operator flexibility.

Label Image’s single-pass direct printing Durst Tau 330 E has no blankets or transfer components that could compromise printed colour or densities. It is coupled with the Durst Workflow Label system including variable data printing, to deliver a consultative and creative approach. It has enabled Label Image to keep in-house fast turnaround and difficult jobs such as short and mid-sized run lengths, customised and personalised labels, multi SKUs, promotional and pilot applications.

It also includes back up and support from Durst and its Australian partner Photo Electronics Services (PES). Nick concludes: “Our experience with Durst and PES has been excellent both from a pre and post installation perspective. The installation was completed within a week and operators trained immediately after allowing us to transition into production sooner than expected.”

Helmuth Munter, Segment Manager, Durst Label & Packaging Printing, said: “It is great to see another company such as Label Image adopting our ‘Configure Your Digital Future’ approach by partnering with us to support their business growth aspirations and investigate new markets. We are delighted to be able to support their ambitious goals and help them expand their business reach.”

  • + Konica Minolta Showcases Label Printing, Variable Data and Integrated Software Systems

A full house of industry professionals enjoyed an inside look at the advantages of digitally printed label technology and support systems from Konica Minolta for short to medium run jobs.

    March 12 2019

A full house of industry professionals enjoyed an inside look at the advantages of digitally printed label technology and support systems from Konica Minolta for short to medium run jobs.

Held at the Printing Education Centre at Victoria’s Holmesglen Tafe, presenters from Konica Minolta, in conjunction with software and systems providers XMPie and PrintIQ, talked about the advantages of the AccurioLabel 190 label press, online ordering and data management systems and integrated production software. Guests also got a look at the iTech CENTRA HS finishing system.

A series of five speakers gave presentations in their area of speciality, taking guests on the journey from the moment an order is placed online, to the point at which the final product receives specialist finishing.

The first presenter was Enda Kavanaugh, Asia Pacific Sales Manager, XMPIE. Enda talked about the ability of variable data to increase the value of a label by enhancing the emotional connection to the final recipient. Campaigns such as personalised Vegemite and Nutella labels demonstrated the success by which variable data label printing can bolster the perceived value of the final product, something that customers will willingly pay for.

“Personalised packaging is worth 40 per cent more,” said Enda. “We’ve seen this happen with the Vegemite and Nutella campaigns. If a jar of Nutella is $6, I can add a personalised label to it and can sell it for $12. There is significant emotional content that can be created by the label if you make it available to the person.”

Next to present was Adrian Fleming, Global Sales Director, PrintIQ. Adrian detailed the PrintIQ process showing which print device will give the best profit margin for a specific job (including all variables), and the benefits this delivers for estimation and quotes, as well as streamlining the whole production process.

David Cascarino, National Manager Industrial Print, Konica Minolta, presented the benefits of the AccurioLabel 190 for short and medium run variable digital label printing. Released in 2016 at Konica Minolta has sold 300 units worldwide with 10 currently in operation in Australia.

“The AccurioLabel 190 has certainly found a niche in the marketplace because of the wide range of applications and industries that it caters for,” said David. “We are talking about labels for the liquor and beverage industries, industrial products and medical labels because we have got FDA compliance.”

“The AccurioLabel 190 is 1200 x 1200dpi capable, meaning image quality is equal to our sheetfed presses. “The printer supports a 330mm web at a print rate of 18.8mpm, and due to the use of dry toner, no pre-coating is required giving it the ability to print on a wide range of stocks.”

The Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 190 is indeed an impressive machine. The capabilities and growing demand for variable data printing is well documented, so too the growing trend of shorter and medium-run label production. With its advanced capabilities it is easy to see why the AccurioLabel 190 is in demand.

Following David was Joseph Brown, Sales Executive, QLM, who spoke to attendees about the iTech CENTRA HS label finishing system. The machine is a high-speed, roll-to-roll digital converting system that allows users to laminate, die cut, strip and slit custom labels in one production pass. Joseph detailed the advantages of the system and how, with minimal training, and operator could be very proficient with this easy to use technology.

Completing the event was Paul Ross, Program Manager at the Holmesglen Tafe print centre. Paul commended Konica Minolta for the company’s complete support of the centre, and the technology and training support they had provided.

Paul stated that the program was designed to cater for all aspects of the industry, not just digital print, and had seen an increase in the number of students currently enrolled.

“We’ve had an increase in the number of people wanting to do the course,” said Paul. “We currently have 17 people in one group, with 25 more waiting to do the second course starting in May. Students come here for four days each week, with one day a week being spent in work experience with companies looking for apprentices or an employee and that go on to full time employment,"

There was certainly a lot to be learned from the presentations, and very interesting to see how the whole production process works seamlessly for greater efficiency, waste minimisation and profit maximisation.

A Start Timer Function completes the setup procedures of printhead cleaning and white ink circulation automatically by your designated start time. The LEF2-200 also adopts a new cleaning system to increase reliability. A Head Refresh Feature removes any ink remaining on the printheads and cleans the printhead surface to maintain the health of the printer. The airtight cover protects operators from UV light and prevents dust from settling onto the surface of materials while printing.

"With the LEF2-200, now anyone can print stunningly realistic and colourful images onto many different materials that you might not think possible," Tanabe said. "To be able to offer this print capability even to people who lack training, we focused on ease of operation and bullet-proof reliability so that everyone can enjoy printing graphics and textures with confidence. This LEF2-200 adds incredible value and opportunity for business growth."

It is no secret that Ricky is a proud supporter of Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA). For three years Ricky has sponsored a research fellow at the institute by donating a percentage of sales from the purchase of our extensive range of shade fabrics. This year, Ricky has decided to not only sponsor a research fellow, but to also become principal partner for the MIA’s biggest fund-raising initiative, Melanoma March. This includes Jay’s Longest Melanoma March, which sees Jay, a melanoma survivor, walking from Adelaide to Sydney via Melbourne over the course of 50 days.

Melanoma March is now in its eighth year. At each location around Australia, the Melanoma March events bring together the whole ‘melanoma community’. Not only is it to raise awareness and funds for melanoma research, it’s an opportunity to inspire others and remember loved ones.

Ricky Head of Marketing, Greg McKinley, wanted to extend the support Ricky offered to MIA. “When we learned that there was an opportunity to further support MIA & their biggest fundraising initiative, we were obviously very interested.”

Melanoma is the most common cancer in young Australians (15–39 year olds) and kills more young Australians (20-39 year olds) than any other type of cancer.
Last year over 7,000 people from every state and territory in Australia supported their local Melanoma March events and we invite you to join us in 2019.
